The UMC-500 is now running a second shift. We added two machinists in June and moved the bracket and housing families onto the later shift to free daytime capacity for first articles and short run work.
This does not change our quoted lead times. It does mean released production is less likely to push prototype work back a week when the schedule is full.
Our ISO 9001:2015 recertification audit closed in May with no major or minor findings. The auditor noted our control plan discipline and traceability records.
The ISO 14001:2015 surveillance audit was conducted in the same week and also closed clean. Copies of both certificates are available to customers on request.
Inspection programming for the Mitutoyo Crysta-Apex is now written in house rather than contracted out. Our Quality Manager completed the programming course in February and has rewritten the routines for our eight highest volume part numbers.
The practical effect for customers is a shorter first article turnaround. Programs that previously waited on an outside resource now land the same week the fixture is proved.
